If you are interested in an online Christian business there are six basic methods you can use to make money. All of these can be implemented with methods based on Christian values. Christians can and should be operating with all types of business models on the internet. The more Christian sites we have the better we can spread the Word.
An online Christian Business opportunity is a business that fits with the teachings of Jesus. This would include honesty, integrating, and giving value. We should always give more than expected when doing business and be honest and straight forward in everything we do. All of the following six methods can be implemented with this in mind.
The first model is Pay Per Click. There is extreme profit potential with PPC but there is also more risk. The way this works is you sign up to Google and place ads with their Adwords program. Google shows those ads when someone searches for a topic that matches your ad keyword or on websites that have information relevant to your ad. So if your ad is for car parts, your ad would be shown on sites with car content or they would be shown when someone searches for car parts.
The up side of this method is your ad viewers are probably interested in the general topic of what you are selling since it matches the web site they are visiting or searching for. The downside is you have to pay Google every time someone clicks on your ad. The charge is usually between a few cents up to several dollars per click. If you can sell these visitors your product then you make money. If you can’t, you end up paying a lot of money for clicks with nothing in return.
The second method is email marketing. This is not spamming. Spamming is not only illegal but it is also unethical. In legitimate email marketing your customers sign up to receive information from you through email. The information is usually in the form of a newsletter.
Email marketing is accomplished with an Auto-responder. This is just a program in which you load the email addresses of your customers and then it automatically sends a message to everyone on your list of customers whenever you want. The key to making this method work is to offer a lot of good information in your newsletter and then every so often offer something for sale like an ebook, a course, or another product. Your customers gain knowledge from your newsletter and if the products you offer are of good value, which is the only kind you will produce, they are happy to pay you for the products.
Membership sites are the third type of internet model. The profit potential with membership sites is absolutely amazing because you receive payment over and over again each and every month. Obviously you need to over deliver to your customers but this is a great way to build a very loyal base of people who are willing to buy your products.
A membership site could be based on a monthly newsletter either online or mailed, a monthly audio training again either online or in CD format mailed to your customers, a video presentation on the web or mailed as a DVD, a forum, interviews, or many other options. The key is to give great value to keep your customer happy month after month.
A fourth model is an ecommerce site that sells physical products. These can either be products you handle or you can set up sites to drive customers to someone else’s internet store and be paid a commission. You can add value with a site like this by reviewing the products or explaining how they work or giving tips about using them. Your customer trusts your opinion because you give good information before they get to the purchasing stage. The key is to sell products you believe in and not just anything to make a buck.
The number five method is to sell an information product. The easiest product to market is an e-book that you produce or you buy the resale rights to. This is a powerful way of making money because if you write a good information product you can easily get other people called affiliates to help sell it for a part if the sale price. This way you have the potential of reaching many more people than just the people on your list. As always you must have a superior product that gives real value but if you follow this advice you have the opportunity to make a lot of money.
The sixth and last internet business model is a niche site. By this I mean a site with information on a particular niche or interest people have. Along with the information people are looking for you offer products or Google ads. If your visitors like your content and find it useful there is a good chance they will purchase an information product from you. If not, it is very possible they will click on the Google ads.
You win both ways because, if they buy a product, you get a piece of the purchase price and if they click on an ad you get a fee for offering that ad on your site.
Each of these six online business models have been used countless times to make millions of dollars. With a little work you can implement any one of them. They are all great models for Christian businesses because they require great service to be successful and being of service is one of our tenants.
