In our case we are wondering if people are searching for Christian Book Store online. So we type it into the box and then retype the word to prove we are human. Google comes back with a list of terms like our keyword phrase and shows us how many times people have searched for those terms on a monthly basis.

As I write this, Google is estimating that 135,000 people a month search for this phrase. On the surface this seems like a good keyword to target. With 135,000 visitors a month it should be pretty easy to sell to some of them right? Well not exactly. Just because there are this many people searching does not mean you will have all of them come to your website. If you notice when you search for a term you get a whole list of websites that Google says contains that keyword in their web site somewhere. The next step is to find out how many other websites are trying to sell people when they search for Christian book store. Go to the Google search page and type in Christian book store in the search box. In the upper right hand corner of the result page you will see a listing of how many websites are also using the phrase Christian book store. At this time there are 36,900,000 websites that you would have to compete against to get people to notice your website. It is not very likely that you will be able to find many visitors when you are trying to go against that many competitors. So a Christian book store would probably not be a great business to start.

This is the first step in building a Christian business opportunity online. You have to find out what people are searching for and find our how much competition there is. Ideally you find a keyword phrase that many people are searching for and also that does not have very many competitors. Lately, the big scam I have seen directed at people who want to start a Christian home based business is cash gifting. This is a despicable ponzi scheme that I have posted about before at Fight Christian Opportunites Online Scam. The scam goes like this: you join the program and then pay a gift to the people above you in the pyramid. The more you gift the more you supposedly get back later. Thus people give as much as possible because they are told 10 times more will come back. Then you get other people to join and they give cash gifts to you and the people above you. This is a classic pyramid scheme because eventually there are no new suckers to bring into the “business” and the whole thing collapses. The only ones who make out are the ones on top who set the whole scam up. Please don’t get sucked into a scheme like this because you are just throwing your money away.

That is all there is to it. You can be successful with a Christian home based business without spending a fortune on less than worthwhile programs and schemes.

A few days ago I wrote a post explaining how I would try to find out more information about Christian Opportunities Online and determine whether or not it is a scam site. Since then I have visited the site and entered my name, email, and phone number. As I said before, the web page has no information regarding what the actual opportunity is. This is always a red flag for me. If a website wants your email address and especially your phone number without informing you as to why, you can usually be assured you will be getting a lot of unsolicited emails and phone calls trying to sell you some big money making scheme.

The main page on the website Christian Opportunities Online says you can “earn money helping others,” “Join the thousands of home entrepreneurs who…embrace traditional values like honesty, integrity, work ethic, and family relationships,” and “Use your God-given talents and experience to do something unbelievable for yourself, your family and your financial future.” It sounds nice doesn’t it? It sounds like the perfect Christian business opportunity. You get to make money while helping others and your own family. These are hot buttons most people have and a good copywriter can push them at will. Who ever wrote the copy on this page knew how to push buttons.

I found something interesting once I entered my information and clicked the “Click Here” button. I was immediately taken to a completely different web site called Abundant Living System. This is another very pretty site. There is a picture of a fancy car and $20 bills flying around in the air. The headline reads, “The Original Creators Of The Abundant Pay if Forward (PiF) Gift Program). They then go on to talk about how their members are receiving $20 – $2000 daily with zero effort.

Note: If someone trys to sell you a system that allows you to make money with no effort you need to instantly turn around and run, not walk, away. Every scam known to man uses the idea of Money For Nothing as a center piece. It plays on our greed and gullibility. Usually this type of offer is focused on the least fortunate of us all, someone who has lost their job or have massive bills that need to be paid. When we are drowning financially it is easy to grasp at any type of potential help available.

Back on the Abundant Living System page there is another “I Want To Learn More” box for you to input your information into again. In the subtitle of this box, we finally find out what the offer is all about. This is a Cash Gifting program. If you are not familiar with Cash Gifting it works like this:

You join the program by giving a “gift” to the people who brought you into the system. In this case the minimum gift is $75 with a $50 administration fee. You then sign up other people who give you gifts of money. The people who you bring in then add more people who pay not only your first level of members but also you. This is a classic operation that is based on continually getting more people to join. Wikipedia has a great article on Cash Gifting. In this system, you have the option of giving an original gift from $75 to $12,000. The kicker is if you give a small amount, like $75, then whenever anyone below you enters the system and gives more than your original amount you do not receive any part of that gift because you did not trust enough at the beginning. Does this sound like a way to get people to give as much as they possibly can for a future big payout?

Christian Opportunities Online Cash Gifting Scheme

According to Wikipedia, Cash Gifting is a Ponzi Scheme which is illegal. The Abundant Life System people claim that it is not illegal because all the money changing hands is in the forms of gifts. Apparently, the United States IRS does not agree. There is a great article on the Abundant Life System at Cash Gifting Watchdog. They lay out exactly what the Abundant Life System says about the legality of the site. Then, point by point, the Watchdog disputes these claims. Regardless of how the government feels about cash gifting (it is illegal) I think it is morally reprehensible. It is nothing more than a scheme to get money from honest, hard working people and put it into the pockets of the few people who start the scheme. Whenever you here about cash gifting as a legitimate business model you can be assured that someone hopes you haven’t read any articles like this one.

There are a multitude of legitimate Christian Business ideas that can be implemented on the internet. I am dedicated to finding the Christian Business opportunities you can implement to make a profit on line. One thing I will never do is promote a program or system I have not used or investigated myself. I hope this clears up the question of Christian Opportunities Online scam or not. I visited the site today in order to find out what they are offering. They have some very nice graphics and there is a lot of copy about how you can love life again and how you can make money working from home. Interestingly, they don’t say you can make money they say, “would you like to earn *1000’s working from home?”

A skeptic might ask 1000’s of what because they have replaced the $ (dollar sign) with an * (asterisk). It would make one wonder what they really mean.

No where on the site does it say what the business opportunity is. To me, this is always a red flag. If they won’t tell you anything about the business it makes a person wonder what they are trying to hide. There is also a disclaimer that this is a home-based business opportunity and not a job. Maybe they have promised something before and didn’t deliver, I don’t know.

Don’t get me wrong. I am not saying there are not legitimate Christian online businesses offered online. And this may be one of them. I am just reporting what I see on the website. I try to steer clear of people who have the next greatest make money scheme but they can’t tell me what it is unless I sign up or give them my email.

This site not only wants your email address (which they will use to send you information) they also want your phone number. I don’t know about you but I have had a lot of scams, Christian or not, who have called me trying to sell me the moon. Generally, when you give out your phone number you are asking for a lot of high pressure sales calls coming from boiler rooms. I don’t know that this will happen if you give your phone number here but I wonder.

I think the best thing to do would be to give them my information and see what I can find out about their Christian Opportunity Online. I hope it is a legitimate business that can offer Christians a way to make money online with a legitimate Christian business. I will report back in a future post what I find out. In the mean time I don’t know if Christian Opportunity Online is a scam or not.

There is no way you are going to be able to get a ranking high enough in the search engine pages to get any traffic to your site. It would take you years to rank against that kind of competition and at that point it may not even be possible considering some of the heavy hitters targeting this keyword.

The current #1 website for this keyword is www.christianbook.com . It has a page rank of 6 which is fairly high but not unmatchable. It is 12 years old which gives it quite a bit of weight with Google. Google likes websites with age because it shows the site is probably not a spam site. The age is important but it is beatable if you have enough good back links. So let’s look at the links for this Christian business opportunity site. According to Yahoo, there are 771,000 sites linking to this make money on line site. The chances of you getting 771,000 back links within the next few years is about 0.

Christian Online Business Opportunity Successful Keyword.

Now let’s look at a more targeted key word. Let’s see what happens when we target Evangelical Books. The number one ranked site in Google is www.evangelicalbooks.com. Looking at the stats for this site we see it has a page rank of 4. This is not too hard at all to match. According to Vic at “Blogger Unleased” a blog with 100 posts and 40 backlinks can get a ranking of 4. (Note: I don’t recommend this site if foul language bothers you because he talks like a sailor, but if you can read between the lines there is a lot of good information here.) So a page rank of 4 should be attainable in about 6 months or a year.

The site was originally listed in 1998 which makes it ten years old. As I said, Google likes sites with some age but this can be overcome with the right backlinks. So lets see how many back links www.evangelicalbooks.com has. According to Yahoo there are 1060 links to this site. This may seem like a lot but most of them are links that don’t really have much ranking with Google. If you wanted to beat this number of links all you would have to do is build 3 links a day for a year and you have 1095 links. This is not unreasonable if you want to build a site with Christian business content.

Within a year your Christian blog or Christian book opportunitie site could over take the #1 spot for this targeted key word. This is the trick to getting traffic to your site. Do not pick a keyword or group of keywords that thousands of other people are targeting. Instead, find the words that people search for which aren’t popular with other webmasters.

The other question to answer is if there is any traffic actually looking for this keyword. Maybe the reason people aren’t targeting this word is because there is no traffic. Well, currently there are 24 people each day, on average, typing in this keyword. That means 744 people potentially each month visiting your site. This isn’t bad but it is not end of the process.

Once you found a keyword like this and have a plan to achieve search ranking for it then find a few more the same way. When you found 10 of these unpopular keywords and ranked for them in the serps (search endgine results pages) you would have almost 75,000 visitors a month. Could you have a Christian make money site with this amount of visitors. I think you could.

OK Let’s recap. Don’t go after the popular keywords. Choose a group of unpopular keywords which still search traffic. Build your Christian business opportunity site with Chrstian business content, start a backlink campaign, and build your traffic up to the point where you have a sufficient amount to make money. This is the key to a lot of traffic for a successful Online Christian Business Opportunity business.

If you want a home based business that will fit in with our Christian beliefs and teachings this is the perfect medium to build that business.

There are hundreds of Christian ways to make money online. The great thing about the internet is you can target your customers so well. I have had several people visit the blog about a Christian Opportunity Online Scam. The most often asked question is how do you tell if it is a scam or it is legitimate? This is one of the reasons I started this Christian online business blog. There are a few things I have found that help spot scams and I want to pass them on.

If the website is offering something that seems too good to be true then it may be a scam. If the site offers all the secrets to an online fortune working only 1 hour a week (or some other ridiculous thing) it is probably a scam. There are fortunes to be made on online but it takes work.

I have been on line for quite a while and I can tell you that the guys making the fortunes are not working only one hour a week. They are business men and women and are working more than the average person. The reason these people are so successful is they work hard and they work smart. They know what actions on the web bring the biggest rewards.

Above I said if something seems too good to be true it may be a scam. This is not always true but it is something you should be aware of.

Currently on the web many of the major players are giving away a lot of good information for free in order to get you on their email lists. Most of this information is first rate and I have received some real gems this way. The key to making this work for you is to realize that the emails you receive will be sales offers. You do not have to buy what they are offering.

When you get an email from one of these so called gurus try to learn from their marketing techniques. Most of the big Internet Marketers are great copywriters or hire great copywriters. They can use words to persuade people to want to buy what they have for sale.

This doesn’t mean what they have for sale isn’t good it just means be aware that it is a sales offer. What I do if I get an email offer that I am interested in is wait before I buy. If I am still interested the next day then I do more research to find out what others have to say about the product. This is one of the great aspects of the web. It allows you to find out what a lot of other people are saying about a topic.
