The second way to get traffic is to get it for free. Free is always good. All you have to do is convince Google that your website is what the customer is looking for when they search on the web. The key is to get your site listed at the top of the search result page when someone searches for a term related to your site.

This is known as a back link. Google figures that if you have a lot of other websites linking to you then your site must be relevant and so they will send the searchers to look at your site.

The key tp making this work is to get other people to link to your web site. This can be a big hurdle unless you get some help. I have found a great group of people who are willing to help you get all the backlinks you want. The site is called Connect Content. The way it works is you join the service and then you ask for backlinks from other sites while you offer those sites links from yours. It is really great. There are a lot of categories to choose from and there is even a Christian Business Opportunity category. This is not a Christian business directory it is more like a Christian Business Network. There seems to be an increase in the number of people who are trying to scam Christians with so called opportunities online. I wrote several posts about this including Christian business scam. In these times of economic turmoil and upheaval everyone is trying to make a little extra money to make ends meet. Some people reading this blog have lost their job and were at the end of their rope when a scammer came along and took what little they had left.

Several people have visited this blog wondering about a site called Christian opportunities online and whether or not it was a scam. I visited the site and reported back to my readers what I found. You can read that post at Christian opportunities online scam. As part of my investigation I had to input an email address in order to view the program. I have not heard anything back until today.

Christian Business Scam

When I checked my email there was a message from ChristianBusinessNewsletter with the subject line, “Your financial future is in your hands and God’s guidance.” I had never heard of the Christian Business Newsletter before so I decided to open it. They had my name and email address so I figured I must have been in contact with them before.

When I clicked on the message it opened to a landing page with Christian Home Based Business as the title. The subtitle was the same as the subject line of the email. Then there was a three sentence paragraph telling me their opportunity was unique because it valued integrity and honesty. It then talked about my destiny again and finally told me how God had blessed me with this opportunity. The email was signed by Maggy L. (I wouldn’t want to give my full name either if I was trying to take advantage of people). It then had a Start Today button to click. I clicked it and was taken back to the site I have explored before in the posts I mentioned above.

They have made some changes including a button to click entitles “Beware of At Home Jobs”. I found this interesting considering what they advertised before turned out to be a Cash Gifting Ponzi Scam type of program. I clicked the button and found that it took me to another site talking about how everything but their programs are scams. Apparently they don’t know who is advertising their programs or maybe they are really the same people.

Anyway I wanted to alert you if you get an email from Christian Business Newsletter this is what is contained in side so you don’t have to open it. I will continue to report on any Christian Business Scams I find while providing you with free home based business and Christian online business ideas. Starting and running an online Christian business opportunity can be lucrative but you have to watch out for scammers because the internet seems to draw them like flies.

Some people think that Christians should not be in business but I don’t believe that. If you read your Bible you will find that people have always been involved in business. In fact, up until the 20^th century almost everyone worked in some sort of small business to support their families because there were very few big companies and governments were not nearly as big. It is time for people to get back to having a Christian home based business again as that is the only way you can have any control over your economic life.

A few days ago I wrote a post explaining how I would try to find out more information about Christian Opportunities Online and determine whether or not it is a scam site. Since then I have visited the site and entered my name, email, and phone number. As I said before, the web page has no information regarding what the actual opportunity is. This is always a red flag for me. If a website wants your email address and especially your phone number without informing you as to why, you can usually be assured you will be getting a lot of unsolicited emails and phone calls trying to sell you some big money making scheme.

The main page on the website Christian Opportunities Online says you can “earn money helping others,” “Join the thousands of home entrepreneurs who…embrace traditional values like honesty, integrity, work ethic, and family relationships,” and “Use your God-given talents and experience to do something unbelievable for yourself, your family and your financial future.” It sounds nice doesn’t it? It sounds like the perfect Christian business opportunity. You get to make money while helping others and your own family. These are hot buttons most people have and a good copywriter can push them at will. Who ever wrote the copy on this page knew how to push buttons.

I found something interesting once I entered my information and clicked the “Click Here” button. I was immediately taken to a completely different web site called Abundant Living System. This is another very pretty site. There is a picture of a fancy car and $20 bills flying around in the air. The headline reads, “The Original Creators Of The Abundant Pay if Forward (PiF) Gift Program). They then go on to talk about how their members are receiving $20 – $2000 daily with zero effort.

Note: If someone trys to sell you a system that allows you to make money with no effort you need to instantly turn around and run, not walk, away. Every scam known to man uses the idea of Money For Nothing as a center piece. It plays on our greed and gullibility. Usually this type of offer is focused on the least fortunate of us all, someone who has lost their job or have massive bills that need to be paid. When we are drowning financially it is easy to grasp at any type of potential help available.

Back on the Abundant Living System page there is another “I Want To Learn More” box for you to input your information into again. In the subtitle of this box, we finally find out what the offer is all about. This is a Cash Gifting program. If you are not familiar with Cash Gifting it works like this:

You join the program by giving a “gift” to the people who brought you into the system. In this case the minimum gift is $75 with a $50 administration fee. You then sign up other people who give you gifts of money. The people who you bring in then add more people who pay not only your first level of members but also you. This is a classic operation that is based on continually getting more people to join. Wikipedia has a great article on Cash Gifting. In this system, you have the option of giving an original gift from $75 to $12,000. The kicker is if you give a small amount, like $75, then whenever anyone below you enters the system and gives more than your original amount you do not receive any part of that gift because you did not trust enough at the beginning. Does this sound like a way to get people to give as much as they possibly can for a future big payout?

Christian Opportunities Online Cash Gifting Scheme

According to Wikipedia, Cash Gifting is a Ponzi Scheme which is illegal. The Abundant Life System people claim that it is not illegal because all the money changing hands is in the forms of gifts. Apparently, the United States IRS does not agree. There is a great article on the Abundant Life System at Cash Gifting Watchdog. They lay out exactly what the Abundant Life System says about the legality of the site. Then, point by point, the Watchdog disputes these claims. Regardless of how the government feels about cash gifting (it is illegal) I think it is morally reprehensible. It is nothing more than a scheme to get money from honest, hard working people and put it into the pockets of the few people who start the scheme. Whenever you here about cash gifting as a legitimate business model you can be assured that someone hopes you haven’t read any articles like this one.

There are a multitude of legitimate Christian Business ideas that can be implemented on the internet. I am dedicated to finding the Christian Business opportunities you can implement to make a profit on line. One thing I will never do is promote a program or system I have not used or investigated myself. I hope this clears up the question of Christian Opportunities Online scam or not. I don’t have a problem with this type of online business. There are a lot of website owners who are making good money online with this type of business but they have only been able to do this after a lot of hard work. The websites that are selling these types of Christian product businesses forget to tell you about the work the other owners have done. The person trying to sell this type of business makes it sound like you just put up a web page full of pictures of products and the customers will show up and make you money.

The reason I started this Christian business blog is because there is so much misinformation out there about how to make money online. Unfortunately, a lot of the home based businesses advertised on the web are designed to make the seller of the website rich at the expense of the person buying the site. By posting to this legitimate Christian business blog I hope to dispel the untruths about online business opportunities and help you to build the kind of business you can be proud of.

The problem with buying a ready made website set up with products is you don’t really know if people want to buy what is on the site. You can literally spend thousands of dollars for a web site and go through months of work to set it up. Then, when you finally host it online you find that no one is really interested in what you have to sell. Or, you find out that there are a few hundred other web sites out there trying to sell the exact same items. It is hard to be successful with a home based business under these circumstances.

Here is what works a lot better to build a business based on Christian opportunities online. Before you do anything about buying a business or deciding what type of business opportunity you are going to follow to make money, you need to find out what people are searching for on the web. The problem I have with websites that sell Christian based items is that people do not search for “Christian product store.” Why? Because it is too general.

You have to focus on a small set of search terms that are very specific. For example, it is very possible that people are searching for “Christian Christmas ornaments” at Christmas time. In fact, for November, 1300 people searched for “Christian Christmas Ornaments” and 1600 people searched for “religious Christmas ornaments” according to Google Adwords Keyword tool. Nobody searched for Christian product store.

By building a website that is optimized for the two keyword phrases above you will have the chance to capture those 2900 people when they are searching for ornaments. If you optimized for another 50 items, which is not unreasonable with an online store, and they all had the same level of searches you would have the potential to capture 145,000 customers. If you can’t make money from 145,000 people then there is a problem.

But it only works when you learn how to optimize your website for the search engines so you can show up in the search list when people are looking of the items you sell.

This idea is so simple that even kids can make money online once they learn it.

Lots of kids make money online by using the technique of finding out what people want and then giving it to them. These kids are no smarter than you, they just know that you must sell what people want to buy. You can’t force them to buy what you have to sell. If kids make money online there is no reason you can’t have a successful online internet business.

You can make money with a Christian home based business if you don’t forget about your customers and you learn what they are searching for.

Let’s say I have an idea for an online Christian business opportunity. Say I want to start a business selling books with a Christian theme. So I go to Amazon and set up an affiliate account and then start to build a website advertising Christian themed books. I am going to be a lot more successful if I offer the types of books that people are actually looking for.

If I choose a group of books I am interested in, they may not be the books my customers would be interested in. For example, I may be interested in the history of the early church. The first 300 years say. But there are not really a lot of people who find that an interesting topic. If that is the only kind of books I have on my site then I probably won’t make too many sales.

But what if I could sell books that people are already looking for? They would buy them up as fast as I could put them on a web.

The way to find out what books people are interested in is by doing Keyword research. I find out what books people are searching for and then offer those on my Christian book store web site. The keywords (the search phrases) people use to search for books tell me what they are interested in.

There are several free and paid programs available to help you with keyword research. One of my favorites is MARKET SAMAURAI. I will be reviewing the program at a later date. If I type “Christian Books” into MARKET SAMURAI I find that about 486 people are searching for “Christian Family Books” each day. In comparison, only 9 people are searching for “Christian Values Books” each day. So which type of books are you going to offer? Duh.
